Service Description

In a Traditional Thai Massage, practitioners use their hands, thumbs, elbows, forearms, and sometimes even their feet to reduce tension in your muscles. Thai massage is based on the idea that energy moves through your body along predictable lines or pathways known as sens. For a Thai massage, the client usually lies on the floor. A licensed massage therapist will slowly work the client's body through various stretches. The therapist may use their hands, knees, legs, or feet to help manipulate the person's body into different positions. Swedish and deep tissue massages take place atop a massage table, Thai massages may place you upon a floor mat. During a Thai massage, the masseuse moves all around and above the client to access a wider range of angles over each part of the body, even in cases when the client is much larger than the masseuse. Thai massage uses gentle pressure and stretching techniques to relax the whole body. This is an ancient healing practice that originated in India and dates back to around 2,500–7,000 years ago. The basic principle of Thai Massage is to start from the extremities of the body for example from the feet or head and then work towards the core of the body (medially), and then back to the extremities. This ensures the flow of energy through the energy channels called meridians, and also improves blood circulation throughout the body. The client actively participates in this massage. Stretching is a unique feature of Thai Massage. It is basically applied yoga, since the origin of Thai Massage is the yoga system of India. In effect, the client is getting a massage and a yoga session rolled into one treatment.
